A Show-Stopping Success: The 2019 FEN-BC Technical Conference and AGM

The Fenestration Association of BC (FEN-BC) Technical Conference and AGM 2019 was a highly-anticipated educational, informative and networking event on February 28th, 2019, at the Northview Golf Course in Surrey, BC. Industry-leading designers, city planners, architects, suppliers, and engineers were front and center. Needless to say, the event didn’t disappoint!

According to an Industry Market Research Report published by IBISWorld, over the past five years leading to 2018;

The Glass & Glazing Contractors in the US industry has grown by 7.5% to reach a revenue of $15bn in 2018.

In 2019, commercial construction projects are charting new territory owing to these extensive economic improvements. Fenestration is the design, construction, and placement of doors and windows in a building. This term has evolved over the years to encompass indoor and outdoor skylights, windows, doors, curtain walls, and other such openings that allow light to travel from space to space.

The FEN-BC conference sought to address burning developments in the industry today. It saw a wonderful mix of veterans and newcomers unite to explore the latest innovations within Western Canada’s fenestration industry. The conference also covered updated 2019 building safety codes and energy conservation materials that are taking the industry by storm.

Greenlite Glass Systems Was a Part of the Action

The team at Greenlite Glass Systems was amongst those in attendance and even had the honor of hosting the keynote speaker, Thomas Zaremba, a renowned representative of the Glazing Industry Code Committee of the Glass Association of North America.

Mr. Zaremba delivered an enlightening presentation on wired glazing and alternative fire-rated glazing solutions. He explored the key factors to be considered when selecting fire-rated glass, its human impact requirements and innovative alternatives to wired glass in hazardous locations.

The Biggest Names in the Fenestration Industry

The turnout was nothing short of phenomenal. FEN-BC witnessed some truly impressive numbers in architectural and engineering professionals, commercial glazers, spec writers, construction contractors, window and door dealers, manufacturers, designers, and suppliers.

Attendees were treated to information about updated building construction codes and received the opportunity to network and strengthen relations.

Updated 2019 Building Construction Codes Are Shaping the Future

We’re now in the midst of a paradigm shift as glass and related framing systems have to go beyond serving as a functional building solution. These must now meet stringent water-resistance, fire-rated and energy conservation parameters.

The FEN-BC conference touched upon all of these crucial underpinnings that are revolutionizing the fenestration industry as we speak.

FEN-BC is a non-profit trade association that represents the interests of businesses that are engaged in the fenestration industry in BC. The organization provides members with training and educational programs, publications, marketing, and advertising opportunities, networking events and partnering programs.

What Happens in Vegas…

The AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 (June 6-8) Will Explore the Latest Trends and Challenges to Take the Industry by Storm!

Come to the birthplace of brilliant architecture – Las Vegas!

The city is known for its colorful nightlife – from casinos and high-rise luxury resorts to community-oriented endeavors such as parks, art installations and hospitals. Borrowing most of its influences from the global arena, Sin City is no stranger to tourists, with millions dropping by every year to take in the sights and the sounds.

In this context at least, what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. Architects look to this city when designing next-gen buildings that aim to visually please and pragmatically address the challenges facing our cities today.

A’19 captures the very heart of this endeavor. It is a three-day event, running from June 6-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Industry-renowned keynote speakers, futurists, firms, thought leaders and designers will run the gamut. Sessions include artificial intelligence, 3D concrete printing, data visualization, overcoming homelessness, nano-grid condos, affordable housing and much, much more.

Great news! The Greenlite Team will be in the midst of the action, networking with some of the industry’s biggest and brightest. We can’t wait to meet you there!
