GLASSX  … a GREEN revolution for facades, spandrel, and even interior fix modules.  


GLASSX is insulated glass that incorporates a phase change material (PCM) which stores heat energy from the exterior temperatures dramatically reducing the output of building mechanical BOTH heating and cooling systems.


GLASSX and the PCM help to balance out the high and low temptures of the day and year.   Not to mention make a large contribution to all LEED, Net-Zero or other GREEN Building initiatives.   


Benifits include:

·Expence reduction on heating/cooling approximately a 1/3 to 1/2 over the year.  With a solar design of60% of the façade is glass, 30% vision IGU glass 30% GLASSX and good insulation of the envelope. 

·U-Values up to 0.07 Btu/F/ft2 (0.40 W/m2K). 

·GlassX “Store” function achieves thermal energy storage capacity of 376 Btu/ft2 (1,185 Wh/m2). PCM will store as much heat as a nine-inch (24 cm) layer of concrete yet which can be released over a 20 hour period.

·The interior temperature can be reduced by 4 °C to 6 °C in temperate climates and even up to 12°C (53°F) in warmer climates during summer months, which contributes to occupant comfort and energy savings through reduction of cooling loads. 

·During winter months PCM has the effect of a “solar tile stove” (more solar gains than thermal loss) on the inner side of the glass facade, and contributes to a reduction of the heating load by up to 150 – 200 kWh/m² per year.

·Building energy use when using Glass-X can be reduced by up to 16kwh/m2when compared to an opaque R19 wall like insulated brick, concrete or composite panel systems.  Plus Glass-X allows for a soft translucent natural light during the day for additional savings on artificial lighting.


This technology can be incorporated into the initial energy modeling design of a building to meet and excide new thermal loss standards; or retrofit buildings requiring upgraded sustainability.
