FIRE-RATED GLASS is not all the same. There are two types of fire-rated glass assemblies:

• PROTECTIVE, non-heat barrier;
• RESISTIVE, heat barrier glass.

1. FIRE PROTECTIVE GLAZING

Guards against smoke, flames and hot gasses. It is not a heat barrier glass.

Protective Glazing product types include:

• KERALITE

Ceramic glass manufactured by Vetrotech;

• VDS LITE

Hollow metal frame system manufactured by Vetrotech;

• FIRE-RATED GLASS DOORS

Non-temperature rise Fire-Protective properties that guard against smoke, flames, hot gasses;

• CONTRAFLAM 45 MIN

Tempered glass with intumescent resin manufactured by Vetrotech.

Standard Methods for Fire Tests of:

• Door Assemblies NFPA 252, CAN/ULC-S104.
• Window and Glass Block Assemblies NFPA 257, CAN/ULC-S106.

2. FIRE RESISTIVE GLAZING

Guards against smoke, flames, hot gasses and radiant heat transfer. It is a heat barrier glass.

Resistive Glazing product types include:

• FIRE-RATED GLASS DOORS

Temperature rise doors and fire-resistive properties that guard against smoke, flames, hot gasses and radiant heat transfer;

• CONTRAFLAM

60/90/120/180 is tempered glass with an intumescent interlayer with a fire rating of 60 min and above manufactured by Vetrotech;

• CONTRAFLAM STRUCTURE

  60/90/120 is tempered glass with intumescent resin with a fire rating 60 min and above. This is a butt glazed assembly with larger size panels manufactured by Vetrotech;

• VDS FIRE FRAME SYSTEM

  60/90/120/180 is an Interior heat barrier frame assembly with temperature rise doors available manufactured by Vetrotech;

• VDS CURTAIN WALL

  Fire frame system 60/90/120 is a thermally broken Exterior heat barrier frame assembly with temperature rise doors available manufactured by Vetrotech;

• LITEFLAM

  Walkable fire-rated glass floor and skylight assembly manufactured by Greenlite Glass Systems. Available in 60/90/120 min ratings for interior and exterior applications.

Standard Methods for Fire Tests of:

• Building Construction and Materials ASTM E-119/UL 263 and CAN/ULC-S101
