The Museum of Art and Design in New York was designed to open the building to natural light and provide views of Central Park and the city on all sides.
A series of cuts were made in the building’s concrete shell, each one a continuous line that unites the façade, walls, floors, and ceilings. This act transformed the building from a closed volume to a light-filled, cantilevered structure, creating a visually striking design.
To maintain the design’s aesthetic while meeting safety requirements, LITEFLAM XT 60 was engineered and installed. This fire-rated glass solution allowed for an open and transparent design while maintaining the necessary fire separation between floors.
